My full name is Matthew William Miller. I choose to go by Matthew William because there are literally thousands of Matthew Miller’s in the world and about 20+ Matthew Miller Professional Photographers…yeah, it can be hard to stand out with a name more common than John Smith.

I grew up in Little Hollywood, also known as Burbank, Ca., where i spent most of my years as a band geek (baritone saxophone incase anyone cares). Though I pursued my real passion of fine art outside of academia by painting and submitting work to local art contests. I began photographing when my father gave me a Canon AE-1, despite the fact that I had recently pretended that I had dropped the camera off a hotel balcony in Hawaii as an April Fool’s joke.
little known fact #2: i still have that camera and use it occasionally even though i had pawned let a “friend” borrow it a couple times in my college days.
After a couple decades of photographing as a hobby, I decided to take the plunge and add Photography as a second major while deep into my Drawing and Painting major. After spending too many years in undergrad, I finally graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Photography as well as Drawing and Painting.
For a number of years after college, I worked full time as a Gallery Preparator and exhibiting paintings in galleries throughout Southern California, before somehow, in a random chain of events, began photographing weddings. I enjoyed photographing weddings more than I ever imagined. so it goes.
Either way, I made it this far because of the love and support of my amazingly beautiful wife, Alexandra. Without her, I would still be covered in pizza boxes and playing Halo with more roommates than a one bedroom apartment can comfortably hold…
little known fact #3: my wife and i have watched an episode of buffy the vampire slayer every night before bed for the last 6 years.
